The Champions League Quarterfinals continue on Tuesday in Turin as Juventus welcomes Ajax to determine who advances to the last four. Juve was perhaps a tad lucky to earn an away goal in Amsterdam in the first leg, with Ajax nearly playing well enough to upend expectations. With a 1-1 draw heading into a typically raucous Allianz Stadium, the odds are stacked against the Dutch side.

Cristiano Ronaldo gave Juve the lead just before halftime, while David Neres notched Ajax’s goal on the other side of the break. The home side probably deserved a better fate as they created several dangerous chances but were unable to get the winner.

Juve are in very good shape heading home with an away goal and level on aggregate. Despite being able to see out the second leg without needing to score to advance, the Italian giants have vowed not to sit back and play for the scoreless result. They rested most of their regulars at the weekend against SPAL and it cost them as they fell, 2-1, for just their second league loss of the season. Meanwhile, Ajax played most of their best players at home against Excelsior and crushed them, 6-2.

The young Ajax side are clearly the underdogs heading into Turin needing at least one goal. However, they proved they’re capable of creating chances against this caliber of competition in the first leg. It’s just a matter of converting those opportunities. It won’t be an easy task for them to pull off the upset, but it certainly isn’t impossible. It should be another classic European night in Italy.
